  The objective behind  open schooling  in India is to impart fundamental education to all children of society without any discrimination. In a developing economy like India, where the population is over one billion and the socio-economic scenario of common people is quite odd, under such circumstances regular education for every child is quite difficult. Today, to impart mandatory schooling education to every child of the country, Government is making various policies, but unfortunately, those policies are not proving fruitful.   BOSSE, or the Board of Open Schooling and Skill Education, is the best way for students who are unable to attend normal schools for whatever reason and want access to the same educational possibilities as those who do. It provides education to underprivileged, disadvantaged, and backward pupils at a very nominal charge. The CBSE-sponsored open school project in 1979, on the other hand, marked the start of open schooling in India. A decade later, in 1989, the Ministry of Human Resources and Development established the National Open School (NOS) as an autonomous body to manage the project. The National Open School (NOS) became the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) in 2002.
